CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values and behaviors.

The Strategic Assessments, Studies, and Projects (SASP) Division of the Civil Systems Group (CSG) is responsible for conducting independent assessments and studies to assist NASA; NOAA; NSF; the National Academies of Science, Engineering, & Mathematics; and other civil customers in agency-level strategic decision-making on future programs and projects.

This position is located in El Segundo, California, or Crystal City, Virginia and can be remote.

THIS IS A PART-TIME, CASUAL POSITION WITH LIMITED HOURS.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Works independently with both internal and external customers and with technical support, as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator on programmatic assessments, architecture assessments, business case analyses, analyses of alternatives, independent program assessments and technical evaluations in the SASP Division and enables program continuity from concept design through development, deployment and operation.
• Serves as the senior reviewer of all SASP products. Interfaces between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff. May mentor less experienced MTS and serve as role model.
• May act as corporate spokesperson in industry-wide technical symposia or in government hearings.
• Normally responsible for (a) programmatic assessments, architecture assessments, business case analyses, analyses of alternatives (b) independent program assessments and technical evaluations (c) mission analysis engineering, technical risk assessment (d)independently services a number of project segments and/or smaller program/project efforts across the civil space group.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

What You Need to be Successful

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
• At least 15 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
• Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative.
• Demonstrated technical capability in programmatic assessments
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers at NASA, NOAA and other civil agencies.
• Deep knowledge of NASA Science Mission Directorate programs and projects
• Broad internal recognition from peers and Aerospace program office
• Broad technical/programmatic impact inside and outside of Aerospace
• This position requires occasional travel, approx. 10%

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
