In 2024, globally distributed EDA will launch the $200 million commercially financed 10-satellite EarthDaily Constellation (EDC) with committed support from its owners, NY-based private equity firm Antarctica Capital. Combined with the EarthPipeline data processing system, EDC will be the first system capable of imaging the entire Earth every day, with scientific quality in 22-spectral bands. It will employ cutting-edge cloud-native processing that is specifically configured for AI/ML applications, transforming raw downlinked satellite data into high-quality and highly calibrated Analysis Ready Data (ARD) that will feed users’ algorithms.

EDC will be the most powerful global change detection and change monitoring system ever developed, capable of generating unprecedented predictive analytics and insights – information that is fundamental to decision-making for government policies, business strategies, science research investments and financial risk advisory.

EarthDaily Analytics is seeking an experienced, VP of Global Business Development – Defense & Intelligence to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, the VP of Business Development D&I will lead the development of new business opportunities for the sale of EarthDaily Constellation (EDC) data and analytics products and services with Defense and Intelligence customers worldwide.

Job Summary

As an experienced global business developer into government markets, the VP of Business Development will develop a strategy for engaging with Defense and Intelligence customers and partners, identify new sales opportunities, shape customer requirements, and develop capture strategies for strategic defense programs. Working closely with the Chief Revenue Officer, the EarthDaily Analytics Sales team, product development and other functional stakeholders at EarthDaily Analytics and its subsidiaries, the VP of Global Business Development – D&I will use their experience in the Defense and Intelligence sector to identify the most promising business opportunities to support long-term growth in the sector, position EarthDaily Analytics to capture opportunities, and support the transition of opportunities to the sales team for final capture and closing. The VP will provide internal company guidance on Defense market strategies, support International and US Government sales efforts with strategic and tactical guidance, and work with the product development groups at EarthDaily Analytics to ensure product development reflects the mission needs of the Defense and Intelligence markets.

Key Responsibilities

Develop Global D&I Strategy

  • Working in partnership to ensure alignment with the Chief Revenue Officer as well as the entire senior Executive team, lead, conceptualize and develop a comprehensive global strategy and roadmap for capturing business in D&I markets.
  • Work with product management and engineering teams to identify and communicate current/future D&I mission requirements, product positioning, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop a plan for working with Defense integrators and other indirect channels to advance EDA interests in the D&I Sector.

Identify, Engage with, and Progress D&I Opportunities

  • Use international contacts, personal networks, and research to segment, prioritize, and identify long-term business development opportunities that can lead to procurement of EarthDaily Analytics products and services in the D&I markets.
  • Engage directly with D&I customers through a mix of remote and direct contacts to evangelize the use of EDA products and services to fulfill D&I mission requirements.
  • Develop and steer existing and new business development opportunities towards the initiation of customer procurement cycles. Engage with customers and governments to influence the allocation of budgets and technical priorities to advance EDA sales opportunities.
  • Work with the Global Sales VP and his team to move business development opportunities into sales cycles to be closed by the sales team.
  • Identify, author and support the development of winning proposals.
  • Proactively engage with product development teams to foster an understanding of EDC’s current/future capabilities and promote updates to D&I customers.

Evangelize and Market EDA Solutions to the D&I Market

  • Work with the CRO and VP Marketing to develop strategies and marketing activities to promote awareness of EDA solutions for the D&I market.
  • Actively engage with D&I space community and evangelize EDA solutions at tradeshows and other D&I related events through speaking opportunities, panel discussions and/or participating in networking activities.
  • Serve as the EDA defense expert at external marketing events.


  • Bachelor’s degree a science, engineering, business, or other relevant field
  • Advanced degree and/or military/intelligence training preferred
  • 15-20 years’ experience in military service, or in developing business in the military, intelligence, or other national security related fields
  • Experience with earth observation or satellite imagery/space technologies
  • Experience developing business and/or engaging with international defense customers and organizations
  • Established reputation and contacts in the Defense and Intelligence sector
  • Senior business management experience with demonstrated experience delivering results in sales and/or business development engagements
  • Experience with large government capture practices and processes
  • Experience with CRM tools


  • Government business development processes and practices (negotiations, proposal development and solicitation processes, capture, and program management)
  • Ability to manage, inspire, and lead sales and marketing team members
  • Proven ability to manage the production of strong, accurate, well-written and compelling oral and written communications
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong public-speaking and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of satellite data applications and customer needs
  • Competitive/market-research experience – with an ability to conceptualize and interpret marketing metrics
  • Tech-savvy and experienced using social media and emerging collaboration, and marketing automation tools
  • Excellent people and project management skills; ability to communicate with people in and outside of the organization at all levels and build internal partnerships across all functional areas
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team-oriented approach when working remotely
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop, create and manage through change/ambiguity

This is a fully remote position with occasional travel for team meetings 1-2x per quarter and substantial international travel for direct customer engagement. Hours of work will require occasional overlap during EDA head office business hours (Pacific time). Occasional evening/weekend work may also be required.
