Maxar is hiring a Sr. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role you will support the EHS program development and implementation.


Monitor air emission permit conditions including, but not limited to,Keep track of chemical usages and equipment operating hours.

Maintain electronic records required by the air district.

Perform weekly hazardous waste storage area inspections and maintain proper housekeeping.

Oversee hazardous waste disposal and maintain associated records.

Conduct annual chemical fume hood certification testing.

Maintain EHS programs such as the chemical tracking system and Safety Data Sheet electronic program.

Evaluate office workstation for proper ergonomic setup.

Respond to emergency life safety issues.

Conduct safety walk-through of manufacturing and laboratory areas.

Manage Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program. Collect stormwater samples and conduct inspections as required by applicable regulations.

Maintain EHS computer-based training modules.

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident

Minimum of 4 years of experience working in the EHS field

Bachelor’s degree in a science related field

Working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations

Ability to travel to Mountain View and San Jose offices as needed

Ability to be on call on a 24-hr basis to provide emergency assistance and response on critical life safety issues.

Able to lift to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient in the use of MS Access, Excel, and Word and Adobe Acrobat

Able to work independently and efficiently with minimum supervision.

Possession of the 40-hr HAZWOPER certification is highly desirable.

Able to use a full-face respirator and SCBA and pass the respirator medical evaluation.

Able to obtain first aid and CPR certification.

Available to obtain ATF Explosive Possessor clearance from ATF.
