Spacecraft Integration Technician

Astro Digital designs, builds, and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for several business applications, including earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, risk reduction, science, and exploration. Position Summary

As an integration technician, you will execute system-level integration tasks on multiple spacecraft projects. Your primary task is hands-on integration and assembly of complex spacecraft systems. You will work closely with the mechanical engineering team to build to assembly drawings, integration plans, and schedules determined by our engineers. Our ideal candidate exhibits meticulous attention to detail, learns and applies new skills quickly, and has previous experience with spacecraft assembly and integration.


Primary Duties

  • Prepare for system integration under the direction of lead engineers (procuring components, organizing, documenting, etc.)
  • Complete spacecraft system-level integration by following procedures and assembly drawings.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering lead on the assembly process, BOMs, and similar documentation.
  • Document progress and status of all integration aspects, working with engineers to solve issues in real time.
  • Assist in the setup and commissioning of integration support equipment.
  • Assemble tooling and assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive laboratory space under the direction of lead engineers.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in assembly and integration of spaceflight, aerospace, or other high-value hardware.
  • Solid understanding of the basic principles of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with procedures, assembly drawings, fasteners, hardware, and torquing.
  • Ability to understand and follow system documentation.
  • Experience working with large BOM’s and fast-paced schedules.
  • High level of attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Spacecraft assembly and integration experience.
  • Clean room experience.
  • Experience working with FOD and ESD-sensitive hardware.
  • Ability to learn new skills to support projects as needed.
