Job Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Senior Wildfire Business Analyst to work with our Enterprise Solutions team.

The Senior Business Analyst is a full-time position that is responsible for facilitating, documenting, and managing requirements for custom application development, COTS integrations, and data analytics projects. A Senior Business Analyst will utilize their technical expertise and analytical skills to support our clients with the implementation of technology solutions through the entire software development life cycle from discovery through implementation and handoff to support.

The Senior Business Analyst works with our clients to understand their business activities, workflows, and needs on multiple levels (from a technical, functional, practical, and end-user perspective). The Senior Business Analyst must be a highly engaging individual who will work with clients and internal team members to develop and manage scope and deliver solutions meeting end user/client expectations through an iterative methodology. The Senior Business Analyst works closely with the Project Manager to ensure scope stays aligned with the schedule and budget.

This position will have a strong focus on custom application development and data insights requirements for the wildfire/forestry industry. Experience in this industry is strongly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Works with key project consumers or stakeholders to formulate and communicate the vision and goals for the project
  • Analyzes an organization or business domain (real or hypothetical) and documents its business or processes or systems, assessing the business model or its integration with technology
  • Delivers quality presentations on the topics like project status, application designs as well as business requirements
  • Documents and maintains user stories and acceptance criteria, continuously refining based on client needs
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager, development team, and clients to manage scope
  • Collaborates with UX/UI Designer to create/maintain wireframes/mockups
  • Ensures that the solution is functioning well as it is designed for, in addition to ensuring the solution delivered satisfies the user requirements
  • Assesses existing systems and conducts gap analysis to proposes enhancements or maintenance items necessary to enhance the value
  • Develops informative, coherent and usable documents for clients and project teams
  • Serve as Business Analyst and Project Manager on small to medium budget/scope discoveries and projects, as needed
  • Provide mentoring/coaching and share knowledge with Business Analyst team
  • Assist with winning recurring work through existing and/or new clients
  • Assist with operational/strategic initiatives
  • Assists with proposals and RFP responses

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years' experience in Wildfire/Forestry industry required
  • CSPO and PBA, CBAP or CCBA preferred
  • 3+ years' experience in Agile Software Delivery preferred
  • Professional services experience strongly desired
  • Creative, open minded, and organized
  • Able to serve as a Proxy Product Owner for our clients
  • Able to provide direct, constructive feedback to both teams and individuals
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently
  • Able to delegate tasks and provide direction as needed
