Senior System Engineer (m/f/d) Space System Studies for Development Programs Defence & Security

Your Tasks

  • Lead of the elaboration of technical proposal parts (BAAINBw, ESA, EDA, EC, NATO, export etc.)
  • System engineering for Phase-0 to D for projects in the field of Space-based Defence and Security Systems
  • Analysis of customer-, mission- and system requirements (specifications, SoW), including execution of a functional analysis, definition of a requirements tree and identification of proposed adaptations
  • Conduct architectural design of space systems, ground segment, data processing
  • Conduct system / subsystem trade-offs where necessary
  • Technical coordination of tasks with the technical disciplines
  • Technical coordination of tasks with consortium partners and sub-contractors
  • Lead and technical coordination of sub-projects and internal projects
  • Partial responsibility for project performance (schedule, cost, quality) as part of the project success
  • Temporarily or permanently other reasonable and equivalent activities according to existing knowledge and skills
  • You will report to the Head of Development Programs Defence & Security

Your Qualifications

  • Completed studies (Diploma or Master) in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in satellite engineering projects, preferably for the whole space system and in the field of Defence and Security
  • Strong competencies in system design and integration, interface management and specification, DDVP, technology bread-boarding and risk management
  • Knowledge of requirements analysis for subsystems of space systems
  • Knowledge of preparation of specifications
  • Knowledge of design and development planning (DDV/AIV) including determination of the qualification status (TRL)
  • Experience with applicable standards and processes (ECSS, INCOSE)
  • High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to achieve a German security clearance
  • Fluency in both spoken and written (Business) English, German skills are highly desirable
