We’re on the hunt for a Senior Cost Schedule Controller on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

The Role

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true. As our Cost Schedule Controller, you will be reporting to the Business Manager, the role of Staff Cost & Schedule Controller demands strong technical skills as a subject matter expert as well as leadership ability. This position builds upon the role of the Senior Cost Controller, to provide support to the PP&C and PMO departments to define, improve upon and apply processes & controls and enhance profitability.

Additionally, the successful candidate must place a large emphasis on mentorship and training, to foster a positive environment for skill development and growth of more junior employees in PP&C.

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining contractual program performance measurement baselines while ensuring that timely and accurate cost and schedule analysis can be performed with anticipation of manpower requirements.
  • Provide reliable financial, planning, scheduling, performance measurement and risk mitigation services to company stakeholders in order to achieve optimal profitability.
  • Alert program managers and senior management about pending problems and corrective action schemes.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of department systems, software and tools.
  • Instruction on efficient uses of tools.
  • Facilitating formal and informal training for new PP&C employees.
  • Mentoring younger members of the PPC group.
  • Act as a support for employees to seek out for advice and guidance on challenging problems.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience with 2 of those years in a senior cost controller/analyst role or equivalent, working with ERP systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Earned Value Management.
  • Strong understanding of PMCS/PMBOK principles. PMP accreditation is desirable.
  • Subject matter expert in project planning and scheduling abilities.
  • Experience with the front of the business and developing proposals.
  • General knowledge of contract terms & conditions and their relation to project accounting and planning.
  • Strong cost accounting and financial principles related to project accounting backed by formal business training and an accounting designation.
  • Proficient with MS Office, MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal & written communications.
  • Comfortable in a leadership position.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Capable of working independently and prioritizing efforts.
  • Demonstrates creativity in problem-solving.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary project team environment.
