The Opportunity

You will be working on a top 100 UK Government Programme, and within that, one of the largest digital transformations currently underway.

As a result of significant opportunity increase, we are looking for an experienced IT Programme Manager who will be responsible for leading a large programme comprising multiple data digitization projects, ensuring that they are delivered according to commitment to the Public Sector Programme owning organisation.

You will oversee the programme throughout capacity increase and associated staffing ramp up whilst maintaining the current high-quality delivery of work to the end client.

This is an exciting chance to work for a fast growth technology and data business that operates in the Geospatial data space – one of the key drivers for UK tech growth over the next 5 to 10 years.

The scope of this role will include:

  • Responsibility for the whole programme delivery expected to run for several more years thereby supporting the account management relationship with this customer
  • Be the primary point of contact for the customer programme and supplier managers.
  • Ensure that contractual commitments are delivered as defined through SLAs and KPIs, and that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Work directly with internal and external supplier delivery teams, ensuring work is on track and downstream work centres are prepared for the pipeline activities and meet those stipulated targets.
  • Define or confirm the responsibilities of parties involved in the delivery including customers, management, IT management, project team, vendors and others affected by the service or project.
  • Assign, schedule, review, improve, monitor and report on work to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and is completed on time and within budget.
  • Build effective customer relationships and provide an escalation path for all service and delivery related issues.
  • Provide management and subject matter expertise as needed to the Sales and Bids teams.
  • Motivate the delivery teams, ensuring that work is completed in a timely and professional manner, to expected quality standards.
  • Oversee the distribution of work among the delivery team members.
  • Promote a positive work ethic, encouraging team members to work beyond their own spheres of expertise when and where necessary.
  • Obtain sign off from client / project sponsor or other appropriate parties at key milestones and for Change Control Notices.
  • Provide reporting internally and to external clients.

About You

Ideally, you’ll have 2+ years of programme management experience. It would be great if you’ve delivered these projects into the public sector so that you have an understanding of the level of process and governance required.

You’ll have experience in:

  • Being responsible for the delivery and service operation of a major IT / data digitalisation programme.
  • Being accountable for the quality of the delivery from both the project/programme team and your own deliverables.
  • Identifying and resolving key Delivery and Project Management issues within the context of the service or project.
