Duties

Duties

As a Regional Program Analyst within the Office of the Regional Director, Midcontinent Region, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Plans and conducts complex analytical studies of organizational elements and work to identify problems and approve resource utilization, administrative support, and management effectiveness.
  • Interprets findings, develops constructive recommendations for solving significant problems, and persuades management officials to adopt substantial changes pertaining to the potential for combining units, work methods and procedures to increase production, workflow between units, human resources utilization, delegation of authorities, management controls, and related areas of management analysis.
  • Provides management authoritative advice and counsel on a wide range of administrative and operational management support issues; and on the formulation and implementation of organization policies, programs, objectives, and plans.
  • Directs, advises, and trains employees engaged in providing administrative support and office services for the organization's activities involving supply and property management, mail and file services, travel, records and reports, equipment maintenance, vehicle management, and related services.
  • Study areas include a wide range of functions such as overtime cost, logistical support, automated applications for administrative functions, office and field space, telecommunications requirements, equipment, and work distribution.

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?

  • Because this position requires travel for official business, the selectee will be required to apply for a charge card within 30 calendar days of appointment. Individuals who have delinquent account balances from a previous Government charge card will be required to satisfy their existing obligation before a new card can be issued.
  • A background investigation will be required for this position. Continued employment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Qualifications

For GS-12:

Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-11 level work: 1) Analyzing and evaluating (on a quantitative or qualitative basis) the effectiveness of line program operations in meeting established goals and objectives; 2) designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for financial management tracking updates. Assignments were planned and carried out independently, resolving most of the conflicts that arose, coordinating the work with others as necessary, relating new work situations to precedent ones, extending or modifying existing techniques, and interpreting and applying program policy in terms of established objectives.

Education

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  • Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
