About the Role

We are seeking a pragmatic, collaborative and experienced Legal Manager to provide high quality, timely and accurate information, advice and insights on commercial contracts to enable efficient and effective decision making and services. Your day-to-day will involve:

Managing the full contract lifecycle:

  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and review of all company contracts with clients and business partners, covering diverse commercial areas like procurement and IT services.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify potential legal and commercial obstacles, collaborating with internal clients to fully understand their business needs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on projects, providing guidance to support strategic business growth and effective governance, including new ventures and procurement initiatives.

Drafting and managing contracts:

  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts, amendments, renewals, and terminations.
  • Clearly explain complex legal and commercial terms to non-legal professionals, building internal commercial awareness.

Optimize contract management and relationships:

  • Develop and implement frameworks, strategies, and systems to improve contract management efficiency and enhance client/supplier relationships.
  • Spearhead contract negotiations and develop standard terms.
  • Monitor adherence to contract terms and commitments.

Maintain legal and ethical integrity:

  • Safeguard Esri Australia's legal and ethical integrity by enforcing established policies and proactively planning compliance programs across all departments.

Deliver high-quality legal services:

  • Cultivate strong internal relationships to deliver timely and high-quality legal advice and services, prioritizing the company's best interests while upholding professional standards of conduct.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Legal Qualifications: A degree in Law with a current practising certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or an equivalent regulatory body in another Australian jurisdiction.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating success in managing legal contractual negotiations and effective leadership and management.
  • Contract Expertise: Strong skills and experience in drafting contracts, variations, and terms & conditions.
  • Legal Advisory and Problem-Solving: Proven ability to provide strategic and commercially-focused legal advice, resolving complex legal issues effectively.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated experience implementing internal policies and procedures through effective change management practices.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, enabling effective communication with Internal stakeholders at all levels & with External clients and suppliers. You will need to demonstrate commitment to respectful communication, maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Additional Requirements: Must hold full-time and permanent working rights in Australia & demonstrated alignment with Esri Australia's core values in terms of attitude and behavior.
