You are part of the MEMS Air Quality Team that provides fit-for-purpose air quality assessments through interaction with MEMS’ regulatory managers, client project managers and client engineering consultants. This position requires office work in a demanding consultative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Running complex dispersion models with appropriate guidance from senior staff
  • Leading the quality control of air quality, meteorological and emission inventories used in or produced by our work
  • Contributing to proposal preparation, scope definition and risk assessment of the project, and development of an appropriate execution plan
  • Delegation of technical work to other members the project team
  • Providing technical leadership to junior staff as required
  • Managing progressive and more complex projects
  • Working with accounting to provide regular and accurate tracking of incurred costs and forecasts of costs and completion milestones on projects;
  • Preparing monthly project status reports and final project completion reports
  • Assisting to manage, maintain, and expand the client relationship.

What You Bring

  • A relevant university degree with at least three years of experience working in resource based industries including mining, oil and gas, oil sands or petrochemical in the preparation of air quality assessments.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The ability to work either independently or as a part of a team interacting with other team members and contractors
  • Thorough knowledge of air quality objectives, emission standards, modelling guidelines in western Canada;
  • Understanding of the principles behind dispersion modelling
  • Skill in application of dispersion models including CALPUFF and preferably SCREEN3, AERMOD, SLAB, ERCBFlare, etc
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Technical skill in a related area: emission estimation, programming, QA/QC, monitoring, environmental auditing
  • Professional membership (e.g. P.Eng. or equivalent)
