The successful candidate in this position will utilize their experience in preparing construction drawings and other documents in order to design portions of projects, as assigned. This includes being part of a project team and working on developing construction-ready documents and plans for bidding, permitting, construction, completion, and cost-estimating activities. All work activities for underground utility development will follow client, NV5, and industry standards, specifically working within AutoCAD Civil 3D and Plant 3D applications. Designers support multiple projects among remote offices and prioritize work tasks. Designers are expected to use their education, experience, intelligence and common sense to resolve engineering issues and complete assigned tasks.


  • Use computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, as well as technical handbooks, utility standards, tables, and calculators to create relevant drawings and 3D models
  • Work under the direction of lead designers and design supervisors
  • Complete as-built drawings
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Prepare studies, perform field surveys, document existing conditions, and/or recommend design solutions



  • At least 2-3 years of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Plant 3D experience
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Knowledgeable of relevant industry standards for design and construction

The pay range for this California position is $24.04- $38.46 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
