What We Do

The Navigation SDK Core team contributes to the development of navigation components and APIs that expose the Mapbox Navigation Engine and provide surface area for core navigation functionality such as routing, guidance, and voice controls. We work at the core of a Navigation SDK product serving customers with use cases ranging from turn-by-turn navigation to delivery route planning for fleets of thousands of trucks. We get users from point A to point B effectively matching them on roads as accurately as possible. Serving customers like BMW, Toyota, Rivian, Instacart, and Doordash is at the core of our mission, backed by our commitment to technical excellence and collaborative innovation. Our core components are built using C++ for performance and flexibility.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a technical Engineering Manager who is driven by the idea of enhancing and developing core and essential components of current and future implementations of the navigation ecosystem here at Mapbox.

In This Role, You Will

  • Mentor, support and inspire engineers on the team, helping them grow in their career.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion and data-driven decisions.
  • Drive company, product, and team objectives, carrying the team along in the decision-making.
  • Work with Product and Engineering Teams to define the roadmap for the Navigation SDK products.
  • Collaborate on what our customers need, and develop a strategic plan to address them, for example via RFCs or FAQs.
  • Contribute to business and product planning.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience: You have managed technical teams leading to product execution and business outcome, all the while growing and developing a team of engineering talent.
  • Technical Expertise: You have experience working in C++ and/or Embedded Linux and understand framework based architectures.

  • Ownership & execution: Own the vision, lead the strategy and guide the team to execute towards building the future of our navigation SDK.
  • Customer focus. You care deeply about your customers and their problems, and you work tirelessly to innovate on their behalf.
