Join the Wingtra team and become part of this venture-backed robotics scaleup with a global and international team of 180+ dedicated Wingtranauts who want to see their actions have a positive and lasting impact on the world. Founded more than 7 years ago at ETH Zurich, Europe’s leading robotics university, our goal is to build the best aerial robots to digitize the world at the push of a button and set the basis for faster and better decisions. Wingtra provides efficient and reliable data solutions to a variety of industries ranging from mining, construction and agriculture to humanitarian organizations, environmentalists and wildlife monitoring groups.

We are reaching for the stars and together we might just get there. Open communication, asking hard questions and valuing diverse viewpoints are but a few things that will help us achieve our goals. Above all we will never stop learning and striving to help each other reach our maximum potential.

As an Embedded Software Industrialization intern, you will play a pivotal role in software development, specifically focusing on testing the drivetrains of our advanced drone system. Your contribution will be instrumental in bridging the gap between development and production within our team.

The earliest starting date would be February 1st and the duration will be 6 months.

  • Develop and implement firmware on a microcontroller to test and monitor essential parameters (KV, current, voltage, rotation detection) of drone drivetrains
  • Debug and optimize code for efficient performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define pass/fail criteria for testing
  • Ensure the development of clean and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards
  • Provide comprehensive documentation for all aspects of the codebase, including design, implementation, and usage instructions
  • Optional: Integrate the developed software into the current codebase, enabling result uploads to a PostgreSQL database, and a user-friendly graphical interface (GUI) for visualization

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in C for embedded systems
  • Basic understanding of electronics and sensors
  • Problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent fluency in English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Honest, humble, and self-motivated
  • Available to work for at least 6 months at 100%

  • Knowledge of communication protocols like SPI, I2C, CAN, and UART
  • Experience with RTOS (e.g. Zephyr)
  • Exposure to version control systems (Git)
  • Experience with Python, SQL and Linux
  • Fluent in German

Joining the Wingtra team, you will gain a deep insight into applied robotics and aerial photogrammetry. Working in a startup, you will have a personal impact on both the new technology and the organisation itself.

If you enjoy teamwork more than being the individual superhero, and if you thrive in a feedback-driven culture and an exciting, unconventional yet structured and progressive start-up environment, we would love to hear from you.
