E2E 5G Architect

Added: May 11, 2024

Position Overview: As the principal 5G E2E Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of NextNav by leading the development of 5G core network architectures, focused on enabling location services (LCS). Responsible for designing location service enablement platforms and exploring Mobile Network Operator (MNO) interconnect options. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into scalable, flexible, and secure 5G network solutions that enable advanced location services and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 5G Core Architecture Development: Design end-to-end 5G core network architectures focused on providing location services (LCS), encompassing LMF, GMLC and LRF. Ensure that the architecture supports service-based interfaces (SBIs), network slicing, and service orchestration.
  • Location Service Enablement Platform: Develop location service enablement platforms that empower developers and enterprises to create and deploy innovative 5G services and applications. Define the architecture, APIs, and frameworks required to enable seamless integration, automation, and monetization of services across diverse verticals.
  • MNO Interconnect Options: Explore and evaluate Mobile Network Operator (MNO) interconnect options, including roaming agreements, peering arrangements, and interconnection frameworks. Identify opportunities to enhance network interoperability, scalability, and service reach while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including network architects, engineers, developers, and product managers. Drive consensus on architectural decisions, design strategies, and implementation plans. Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in 5G core architectures, service enablement platforms, and interconnect options. Develop mitigation strategies and security measures to safeguard against cyber threats, data breaches, and service disruptions.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in mobile communications, with a focus on 5G architecture and technology
  • Hands-on experience enabling 5G location service (LCS) involving LMF, GMLC and LRF. Expert knowledge of 5g positioning protocol
  • Proven expertise in 5G core network architecture development, including network slicing, service-based architecture (SBA), and virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with service enablement platforms, API management, and developer ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of Mobile Network Operator (MNO) interconnect options, roaming agreements, and interconnection protocols.
  • Familiarity with 5G positioning reference signal (PRS) and related positioning algorithms such as OTDOA
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and security best practices related to 5G networks.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
