Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role located in Madrid, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Digital Electronics Engineer at Ommatidia LiDAR, you will be responsible for designing and developing digital electronics for high-performance optical ranging systems. This includes designing circuits, testing and debugging, board-level integration, and firmware development. You'll be expected to provide technical leadership and work closely with other engineers to support a cross-functional development team.The Electronic Engineer will be responsible for in-house and COTS electronic solutions that support Ommatidia’s technological roadmap. The electronic solutions include hardware design and firmware development. He/she will collaborate with Signal Processing Engineer and Hardware Area Manager to provide verified solutions within time and budget constraints.


  • Collaborate with team members to identify requirements for electronic solutions.
  • Design of electronic solutions:
  • Design and implementation of in-house hardware. From schematics to start-up of prototypes.
  • Primary technical point of contact for outsourced hardware developments.
  • Produce and control hardware documentation: (ATP, BOM, Schematics, Gerbers….)
  • Responsible for executing Trade Studies and selection of COTS electronic solutions.
  • Participate in firmware development and firmware verification on target.
  • Responsible for integration and verification of electronic solutions.
  • Support validation activities for electronic solutions.
  • Lead regulatory product tests in the areas of electrical safety, EMC and EMI.
  • Support transfer to manufacturing activities.
  • Lead Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System for released solutions.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in digital electronics design and development, preferably in a high-tech or startup environment.
  • Advanced level of English
  • Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL, or similar
  • Strong background in hardware design for manufacturing covering schematics capture and layout.
  • Experience with CAD tools for schematics and layouts.
  • Proficiency in digital design with FPGAs and communication buses such as Ethernet, RS422/ RS485, I2C, SPI….
  • Experience in laboratory using test equipment like oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer…
  • Experience in design for EMC.
  • Understanding FPGA developments for Xilinx SoCs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex systems.
  • Experience in LiDAR or optical ranging systems is a plus
