Added: February 19, 2024

Woolpert, Inc. is a cutting-edge national architecture, engineering and geospatial (AEG) firm that delivers value to clients by blending site and architectural design excellence with innovative technology and geospatial applications. Woolpert is certified as an Employer of Choice by Great Place To Work®. We believe great companies are built from exceptional people and amazing clients. Because of our growth, we are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer Intern.

Join us for an internship experience that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment with ample opportunities for professional and personal growth. We are currently seeking a Transportation Intern in our Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, or Cleveland Ohio offices for the Spring semester (January-May). This internship will be a full-time position working 40 hours a week.

The Transportation Intern will work alongside the Woolpert Transportation teams on a variety of design elements to support the roadway, bridge, traffic, and planning aspects of projects. These could be designs for DOT, municipalities, the federal government, or the private sector. Typical projects range from new bridges or bridge rehabilitations, new roadways, retaining walls, trails, transportation planning or traffic studies to support development. Interns will be assigned to an office rather than a single Team, allowing them to gain experience across the Transportation Disciplines. Returning interns may select a concentration after discussion with their supervisor. All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.

  • Work as part of the industry leading Transportation team.
  • Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside Licensed Engineers that are experts in their fields.
  • Assist on bridge tasks; structural calculations, bridge design, retaining wall design, plan production and cost estimation.
  • Assist on roadway tasks; conceptual layouts, roadway design, grading, utility design, plan production and cost estimation.
  • Assist on traffic tasks; data collection, analysis, reporting, signal design, transportation planning, plan production and cost estimation.
  • Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.
  • Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.
  • Work across multiple disciplines to gain a variety of knowledge and experience.
