HEO is the world’s first commercial in-orbit satellite inspection company. We have a working product and revenue. Our technology helps governments and commercial operators to visually monitor their spacecraft and other space objects they care about. We do this by transforming Earth observation satellites into in-orbit inspection cameras with our proprietary software and generating insights through our computer vision techniques. About the role

As Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in externally facing interactions within the European, Middle East and African (EMEA) region. With substantial space sector experience, you will be responsible for identifying market leads, researching new business opportunities, cultivating relationships, and ultimately developing new revenue opportunities to support the growth of HEO globally. An important part of this role is identifying potential partners to provide a more compelling product to customers. You’ll be passionate and self-motivated, driven to make a real difference in supporting the business to help make space transparent.

HEO is hiring a Business Development Manager to work in London, UK. Ideally you should have experience with government/defence customers.

Your key responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for business development, business accounts and sales partnerships pipeline in the European, Middle East and African (EMEA) region

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities and high-value partnerships with a variety of organisations

  • Propose contracts and agreements with clients, optimising terms and conditions to maximise value

  • Build and maintain stakeholder maps relevant to HEO’s business for the region, including different potential customers, partners and competitors

  • Develop a good understanding of HEO’s capability offering and product portfolio

  • Understand civil, defence and commercial space client needs and tailor our products to meet and exceed their expectations

  • Work closely with sales, business development and product teams globally within HEO, including the US and Australian offices

  • Lead or support sales negotiations as required

  • Willingness to travel regularly, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, to engage directly with customers, stakeholders and to attend and represent the company industry events.

About you, we'd love for you to have

  • Relevant experience in a business development or sales role in the space or technology sector

  • Understanding and keen interest in space, satellite subsystems and structures

  • Experience in converting a pipeline into valuable contracts

  • Evidence of strategic mindset, with the ability to examine a business offering and match it with potential customers and their needs

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision

  • Hubspot CRM proficiency

  • Enjoys the challenge of building an early stage start-up and willing to grow with HEO as it expands and delivers on its mission to image space-based objects on demand

  • Several years experience in a business development or sales role in the space industry for down-stream products from satellite services

  • A technical background in space systems, ideally satellite imaging systems and sensor payloads
